Hit Report: Connacht Sabs: Carnmore Gun Club
Driven fox shoot, Carnmore Gun Club, Cashel /Robben, Co Mayo, Ireland.
We received information on a driven fox shoot in Co Mayo recently so we decided to pay these blood lusted hunters a visit. Pheasant shooting season has ended (31st January) so the hunters have turned their attention to try to wipe out as many foxes as possible to preserve their preferred victims. These folks are much more proficient at murdering wildlife so they take priority over the other horse using brigade.
We landed down in the area midday scouting an area of bog and planted coniferous where they were known to shoot. We found them and immediately deployed sabs to stop them shooting.
Frustrated by our presence, they gathered the dogs and moved on. After covering the local area we eventually came across them again waving loaded guns around roadside (an illegal activity). An array of gun shots were heard, sabs eventually finding the line of Gunmen in wait. They could be heard saying "there is one more fox in there” so our sabs stood between the hunt and the woods. A fox was seen at the edge; thanks to our presence gunmen were unable to make a kill.
Hunters claimed we were trespassing on "their land ' it was clear to see the land was common-age land. Garda arrived on the scene just as the hunt was packing up, and after a few words we moved on. The hunters moved quickly throughout the day over hard terrain flushing and shooting in an area for no longer than 30 minutes at a time. These hunts will kill in double figures, so slowing them down and distracting them is very effective at saving lives.
Unfortunately they likely killed many times; we could only minimize the murder.
We will sabotage every single form of hunting. There is no hunt in Ireland we will not take on. See you soon
