Lamping is the use of high powered lamps to daze nonhuman animals to keep them still so hunters can shoot them or have dogs set upon them. Generally, hunters target foxes and rabbits; however, it is common knowledge that hunters shoot and kill hares using this method as well. Many hunters have amusingly taken “selfies” with dead hares and lamps, not realizing it is illegal to hunt a protected species in this manner without a license.

It is illegal to lamp from a vehicle or on/near a public road, which is also something commonly witnessed nationally. Lampers are known to be serial trespassers which is a crime if the intent is to hunt. They will go out late at night when nobody is around to carry out their blood-sport.
