This image is not from the below story, sadly no photos were taken at the event, or they weren’t sent to us. The above image is from Mendip UK from a similar incident that happened. Unfortunately this happens on a regular basis, just a few years ago “Meath Hunt” hunted near the M3 motorway which ended up horrifically killing four hounds through vehicle collisions. We have just received reports that a hound was found dead on the side of the road in the Ballinhassig just south of Cork city. Munster lost and found pet helpline were called by a member of the public who had found the dog, and when they arrived the dog was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased was likely hit by a vehicle during a hunt, however, cause of death wasn’t specified, but implied.

⁣Based on the described location it is suspected that this hound was used by “Killeady Hunt” whose kennels (51.81895, -8.57365) are not far from Ballinhassig/Five Mile Bridge, however, the hound could have also been used by “South Union”, “Carbery” or other closely located hunts. We’ve been told that the CSPCA are going to collect the body and check for a chip, however, it’s doubted there will be one. Our source explains they are very upset about the events, and understandably so.⁣

⁣Hounds are also victims of fox hunting and their liberation is tied to the foxes. The best way to help the hounds is to ban hunting in Ireland, and then we can push for hounds to be recognised as dogs and not as tools, disallowing and banning their exploitation. Get involved in the campaign.
